Adam Harrison Levy is a writer and freelance documentary film producer and director. For the past 15 years, he has worked on a wide range of historical and arts films, primarily for the BBC. He was the U.S. producer for Selling the Sixties, a cultural history of the world of advertising in New York in the early 1960s. He was also the U.S. producer for a BBC film, Close Up, about the artist Chuck Close, as well as David Ogilvy: Original Mad Man. His directing credits for the BBC include: Step Right Up, War Machine and Wood Against Steel. Levy also specializes in the art of the interview. For the BBC and Channel 4 he has produced and directed countless interviews with a wide range of actors, writers, musicians and film-makers. In addition, his interviews have appeared in D-Day to Berlin; Auschwitz: the Nazis and the Final Solution; Fifty Films to See Before You Die; the drama-documentary Hiroshima; and the series The Genius of Photography (winner of the RTS arts award 2007). His writing has appeared in The Guardian Weekend Magazine and The Independent on Sunday. His radio commentaries have aired on NPR station WAMC. He received an MA from The V&A/Royal College of Art History of Design course and a BA from Wesleyan University.
