Sarah F. Cox
Sarah F. Cox’s first real writing job, for C-Ville —Charlottesville Virginia’s ultra-liberal alternative newsweekly—required her to crack jokes about hippie healers, funerals, and toilet salesmen. It was incredibly fun and completely unprofitable; a career was born!
After finishing an undergraduate degree in Architecture, she swore never to touch auto CAD or a drafting table again, and is happy to report that she’s been wildly successful in this endeavor. Summoned to intern for Architectural Record, she moved to New York in 2005 where she has lived ever since.
Sarah’s professional career has allowed her to write about architecture in many facets, from press releases and marketing copy to news blurbs and feature articles. Once called “wonky” by her editor, she decided to run with it and got into stories about building policy. She has been published in Architectural Record, Dwell, and the Architect’s Newspaper.
Sarah owns a high-strung fox terrier that expresses her displeasure by eating pencils when D-Crit requires her owner to work late. Together, they authored a series on Core77 called Dogs on Design; an archive is available on the blog Raleigh Pop.
